Xcel ready to meet winter power needs

Xcel Energy is set to supply more than enough electricity to meet peak demand this winter in the Texas and New Mexico communities it serves and is encouraging customers to use tools and information to lower winter power bills while staying comfortable through the coldest months.

North Gin, Mortensen Wind Energy, and Invenergy/ Bethel Wind Farm made generous donations to the annual Sheriff’s Toy Drive, along with others who donated money and toys for children in the county. Sheriff Sal Rivera and deputies delivered the toys to families who signed up on Dec. 23-24. Sheriff Sal Rivera thanked all those who participated to bring joy to many children in the county. North Gin also made donations to Child Protective Services.

The Dimmitt Bobcats defeated the Springlake Wolverines in an overtime game, 56-52.The Bobcats hit 14 of 35 2-point shots, five of 24 3-pointers,13 of 27 free throws, collected 13 offensive rebounds, 30 defensive rebounds, six assists, eight deflection, 17 steals and had 22 turnovers and 30 fouls.
