Pablo Perez visited with former Texas Tech Chancellor Kent Hance recently to discuss opportunities that the university can provide for students as well as the support that the system can foment success. Both Perez and Hance claim Dimmitt as their hometown. Perez recently graduated from Dimmitt High School last and plans to major in chemistry at TTU. Hance is a Dimmitt native who is the third and longest serving chancellor of the TTU system until his retirement in July 2014.

Seven youth from Castro County 4-H attended the District 2 Junior Leader Lab at Ceta Cayon for two days of fun and learning: Chesney Farris, Gracie McLain, Jaycee Cantrell, Sawyer Gibson, Doc McLain, Jack Wanjura and Copper Farris.

806 Storm Chasers reported that a hailstone that fell east of Tulia has officially set a new state record. Measuring at 7.25 inches in diameter, storm chasers Val and Amy Castor documented the hailstone 3 miles WNW of Vigo Park, Texas at 7:37 p.m. on June 2, shattering the previous record of 6.4 inches in Hondo, Texas in 2021.
