State sales tax revenue down in January

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced that the state sales tax revenue totaled $4.02 billion in January, 2 percent less than in January 2023. The majority of January sales tax revenue is based on sales made in December and remitted to the agency in January.

The Nazareth Swifts claimed a win over the Springlake Wolverines, 52-44. The Swifts took the lead in the first quarter and added another three points to widen the lead in the second, closing the first half out ahead 26-18.

The Dimmitt Bobcats claimed a win over the Friona Chieftans, 56-49. The Bobcats started off strong in the first quarter, taking the lead 14-6 and extending the lead in the second quarter to end the first half, 25-12.
