Martinez pleads guilty to murder

Francisco “Frankie” Martinez, 41,of Dimmitt, pleaded guilty to charges of the murder of Rachel Salinas this past Thursday in the 64th Judicial District Court of Castro County. Martinez was sentenced to 40 years in prison; Salinas’ family was present at the plea and sentencing.

State sales tax revenue $3.8B in September

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar today said state sales tax revenue totaled $3.79 billion in September, 2.8 percent more than in September 2022. The majority of September sales tax revenue is based on sales made in August and remitted to the agency in September.

The Nazareth FFA will be holding its Lamb Jackpot and Clinic on Oct. 19. The event is limited to FFA and 4-H members. The scales will open at 7:30 a.m. and weight cards are due by 9 a.m. The clinic will be from 9 to 10 a.m. with showmanship classes for junior, intermediate and senior participants.
