The Dimmitt 4th grade basketball team competed against the best in the nation at the Boys MAYB (Mid America Youth Basketball) National Championships in Wichita, Kansas on Aug. 3-6. After winning a qualifying tournament in Lubbock, the team was invited to play at this event.

First responders battle tractor fire

The Sheriff’s Office and county fire departments responded to a call stating a tractor was on fire at CR 614 and FM 2567 east of Dimmitt. Nazareth VFD and Dimmitt VFD arrived on the scene to find the tractor on the road billowing in flames and smoke.

Nazareth FFA members Kennedy and Pierce Wilhelm competed in the Texas Cattle Feeders Association Junior Fed Beef Challenge on July 28 and picked up four first places in their events and divisions. The contest was held at WTAMU Paul Engler College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences. he objective of the Junior Fed Beef Challenge is to encourage young people to gain practical experience in feeding commercial beef cattle. This program stresses the importance of proper animal husbandry and financial management.
