The Ogallala Quilt Festival is just around the corner and with it, deadlines for the event. A brief calendar of events and deadlines: March 15 – Deadline for class registration, nominations due for Heart & Hand Award and Amy Armenta Scholarship.

Naz FFA Autumn Birkenfeld placed third with her cross barrow and made the sale. Naz FFA Addie Birkenfeld placed fifth with her cross barrow and made the sale. Naz FFA Harper Johnson placed fourth with her AOC steer and made the sale.
Nazareth and Dimmitt Robotics teams competed at the FTC Regional meet in Lubbock this past weekend and both will be advancing to the state competition. The FTC/UIL state competitions will be held in Belton on March 24-26.

NHS, DHS robotics state-bound

The Nazareth and Dimmitt Robotics teams competed at the FTC Regionals this past weekend. Both schools will advance to the state competition.
DHS HOSA students competed at the Area Conference in El Paso this past weekend and two are state bound. Advancing are Martin Rodriguez, third place, in Sports Medicine, and Kaylie Furr, third place in Health Career Photography. Also competing in Health Education were Ana Penaran and Jimena Fuentes.

Abbott orders wildfire resources mobilized

Governor Greg Abbott on Tuesday directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to mobilize state firefighting resources to support local officials in their response to wildfires impacting the Panhandle, the South Plains, West, and Northwest Texas.
The Nazareth Swiftettes captured the Regional Championship this past Saturday in the final minute of the game against Claude and will be making the 31st trip to the state championships for Swiftettes’ basketball.

The Nazareth Swiftettes are headed for the Texas UIL State Basketball tournament at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, and was earned by winning two tough games at the Regional tournament this past weekend, defeating Whiteface in the semifinals and Claude for the championship title.

UIL suspends Lorenzo head basketball coach

The Texas UIL Executive Committee on Monday voted 4-0 to suspend Lorenzo High School boys’ basketball coach Dion Mitchell after eight student-athletes transferred to the school, with one violating the league’s rules.
