Naz Ed Foundation donates $15,000

The Nazareth Education Foundation donated $15,000 to Nazareth ISD following its annual fundraiser on Oct. 15. NISD will be using the funds to complete replacing carpet in the elementary classrooms.

WTAMU student dies in train accident

A West Texas A&M student was hit by a train in Canyon on Halloween, according to Randall County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were dispatched to the train tracks at North 24th Street and Buffalo Sports Park around 9:30 p.m. following a report of a pedestrian being hit.

State sales tax revenue $3.8B in October

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar today said state sales tax revenue totaled $3.82 billion in October, 11.9 percent more than in October 2021. The majority of October sales tax revenue is based on sales made in September and remitted to the agency in October.

Castro County voters had the opportunity to hear from the candidates Janet Sammann (I) and Mandy Gfeller (R) last Thursday at a forum hosted by The Castro County News. Between 75 and 100 voters filled the meeting room at Dimmitt City Hall to hear the candidates.

The UIL 3A Region 1 Cross Country Meet was held at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock on Tuesday’s chilly morning, with Dimmitt High School teams competing among more than 24-30 schools from the region for a chance to advance to state competition.

Nazareth High School and Hart High School cross country teams competed in the UIL 1A Region 1 Championship Meet on Tuesday at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock. The Nazareth girls team qualified to compete at the state meet, placing third overall, as well as Bryson Brockman as an individual runner.
