Paying college athletes has hit the news with The Boulevard Collective working its way to incentivize student players – legally. This news is on the heels of The Matador Club paying Texas Tech football players $25,000 each on an annual basis.

Wheat conference set for Aug. 18

The Big Country Wheat Conference is set for Aug. 18 at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. in Big Country Hall followed by the event from 8:30 a.m.to 4:15 p.m. The conference is $15 if registered by Aug. 12, or $20 at the door.

Naz Boy Scouts selling casseroles

The Nazareth Boy Scout Troop #265 will be selling frozen casseroles to help raise money for the opportunity for several of the boys to attend the Philmont Scout Ranch in the summer of 2023.

Beef cattle conference set for August 9

A beef cattle conference will be offered Aug. 9 by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Gray County in the Gray County Annex, 12126 E. Frederic Ave., Pampa. The program will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $10 at the door, and lunch will be provided.
