My Mom was a whiz at word games; family and friends knew that she was usually a winner at bridal and baby showers. I remember that she was an avid viewer of the Wheel of Fortune program and worked TV Guide and newspaper crossword puzzles.

A baby shower honoring Kate Sides LaMore was held on Saturday, April 23, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the lovely home of Sherry Smith. The wooden dining table was covered with an elegant white linen tablecloth, accented with a yellow and white checked fringed throw.

After seven days of state judging contests all over the state (Lubbock, Stephenville, Huntsville and College station), Nazareth FFA ended a solid judging season with seven teams competing against 1A-6A schools. Twenty-two of the 41 ag students at Nazareth competed.

There's something beautiful about the experience of reading a print newspaper; the fresh ink on your fingers, the smell of newsprint, and of course, the occasional bizarre and (unintentionally) funny newspaper headlines. One of my favorite parts of journalism is finding the “failed headline.
AgTexas had its Annual AgTexas AgYouth Scholarships awards program and banquet in Amarillo on Monday. Thirty-six youth from the Panhandle area were honored and 10 seniors received scholarships presented by AgTexas Farm Credit CEO Tim McDonald. Nazareth FFA Dayson Schacher (bottom left) and Dimmitt FFA Hannah Simpson (bottom right) were two of the lucky recipients of scholarships.

DISD trustees elects officers

The Dimmitt ISD board of trustees met Tuesday and elected new board officers after canceling the election for places 2 and 4. The election was canceled because Jason Nelson (Place 2) and Mary A. Flores (Place 4) were each unopposed and were declared elected to begin their 3-year term.
