Xcel to hire 100 customer service agents

Xcel Energy announced the company will be hiring up to 100 customer service agents with the option to work remotely. The company said the jobs come with “generous pay” and benefits. Xcel Energy offers training for new employees and have boosted their starting pay by more than 20 percent.

Plainview man arrested after suspected explosive device found

USDA, NRCS announces conservation assistance deadlines

The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Texas has announced the first funding application deadline of Oct. 29, for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). A second funding application deadline will be Feb. 11, 2022.

LISD all-district band to march in National Independence Day Parade

Lubbock ISD all-district marching has been selected to perform at the National Independence Day Parade on July 4, 2022. The all-district marching band is made up of more than 300 students from Estacado, Monterey, Lubbock High and Coronado.

ATA All-American

Castro County 4-H Harrison Meador earned a spot as an ATA All-American, Sub-Junior second team with a score of 952. The Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) All-American team selections were made based on the All-American Awards Point System and 2021 performance.
