Save Our Seniors initiative begins

Governor Greg Abbott Monday announced that the Texas Division of Emergency (TDEM), the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), and the Texas Military Department (TMD) will begin the first week of the Save Our Seniors initiative 26 participating counties.

Governor Greg Abbott on Tuesday issued an Executive Order (GA-34) lifting the mask mandate in Texas and increasing capacity of all businesses and facilities in the state to 100 percent.

In response to the winter storms that hit Texas in February 2021, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is offering farmers and ranchers technical and financial assistance to repair and replace certain damaged conservation practices.

Bobcats capture Area Championship

The Dimmitt Bobcats won the Area championship in a nail-biter game against the Bushland Falcons, 62-61. The Bobcats took a narrow lead in the first quarter, 15-12, and gained another two points on the lead in the second quarter, to close the first half out ahead 28-23.

Bobcats snag Bi-District title

Coach Colby Rives and his Dimmitt Bobcats clenched the Bi-District title on Saturday, beating the Tornillo Coyotes, 52-41.

Bobbies qualify for powerlifting regionals

The Dimmitt Bobbies Powerlifting team traveled to the Cub Classic 2.0 (LCQ) Meet in Brownfield this past weekend and returned with another team first place. The meet was the last qualifying meet for girls in Region 1 before the Regional meet on March 5-6 to be held in Kermit.

Swifts defeat Owls, 80-47

The Nazareth Swifts took on the Hedley Owls to win the Area championship, 80-47, advancing them to the Regional Quarterfinals. Nazareth took the lead in the first quarter 23-10 and continue to outshoot the Owls in the second quarter, putting ahead 43-19 as the first half came to an end.
