Hospital board eyes tax rate, supports Level 4 designation

Deaf Smith County Hospital District board members considered the 2026-2027 budget and the proposed tax rate during a regular meeting August 20 at the Hereford Regional Medical Center Board Room.

New county tax remains same as last year, effective rate up slightly

Deaf Smith County commissioners voted unanimously to leave the total county tax rate for Fiscal Year 2026-2027 at $0.55633, the same as the previous year, during the regular meeting August 25 in the County Courtroom of the Deaf Smith County Courthouse.

AUGUST LIONS CLUB RAMPS

The Hereford Lions Club installed two ramps in August including one at 107 Ave. J (above). The club thanks Top of Texas, AllenWright and his amazing crew who cut and donated metal platforms, and Hamby’s for donating delivery of rest of material to the club.

Deaf Smith County Fire Departments had a busy week responding to two fires. One was a hay fire near Hereford Aug. 20 and then another was caused by lightning Tuesday evening. Dawn, Hereford and Bootleg fire departments responded to the fires.
