As of pres time Friday, the Hereford Whitefaces led their best-of-three Area Playoff series against El Paso Riverside one game to zero. The Whitefaces won the first contest 4-3. The series was being played in Monahans with games two and three (if necessary) scheduled for Friday.

High gas prices eating into Texans’ budgets The average price for a gallon of gasoline in Texas has risen from $2.55 in early February to $3.91 as of Sunday, according to AAA. Diesel prices hover around $5 a gallon.

The Hereford Whitefaces claimed the Bi-District Championship trophy topping Andrews in three games in Littlefield. Hereford dropped the first game of the series and then rallied for two wins on Saturday. Senior Kalub Ramirez got the first Saturday win with 14 strikeouts. The Herd won the game 7-0.
