Sheriff presents report to commissioners

Sheriff Sal Rivera presented his August call report and racial profiling report for the period to the Commissioners Court on Sept. 9.Sheriff Rivera reported there were 173 total calls for service this past August to all entities in Castro County.
The Castro County 4-H Judging Team competed at the Tri-State Fair in Amarillo last Thursday. Team 1 placed 4th; Team 2 placed 8th; Team 3 placed 10th. Trystan Crow placed 8th overall and Steeley Moore3rd in Reasons and11th overall. Judging team coaches are Jessica Moore and Mary Crow.

Parts of the Texas South Plains were slightly rocked by a 5.1 magnitude earthquake Monday evening around 7:50 p.m.According to the U.S. Geological Survey, it was one of the strongest in the state’s history.The quake struck occurred in Martin County, about 21 miles southwest of Ackerly.
