State Rep. Price announces retirement

Two arrested for injuring 10-month-old baby

Two individuals were arrested last Thursday and charged with injuring a 10month baby girl. According to court documents, McLayne Hall, 28, and Cotton Nicole Newbrough, 24, were arrested and taken into custody.

Justice Department sues Texas over floating barrier

The U.S. Justice Department announced it is suing Texas and Gov. Greg Abbott after the state declined to remove the floating barrier deployed on the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass. The lawsuit was filed in an Austin federal court and alleges the barrier was installed without authorization from the U.S.

Wolfforth man pleads guilty in death of son

A Wolfforth man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated assault in the 2021 death of his 3-monthold son. On Nov. 21, Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office responded to residence in Wolfforth where they found the baby, Benjamin Ortega, in cardiac arrest.

DISD approves waiver, proposals
