Council appoints new police chief

The Dimmitt City Council appointed Interim Chief Tony Martinez as the Chief of Police for the Dimmitt Police Department (DPD) at their regular meeting on Monday. According to City Manager Daniel Jackson, Chief Martinez has over 16 years of law enforcement experience.

Doc Render Golf Tourney set for July 22-23

The 2023 Doc Render Golf Tournament will be held on July 22-23 at Dimmitt Recreation. The tournament will be a 2-man scramble with an entry fee of $230 per team or $200 if bringing a golf cart. Sponsorship for the tournament is $430 and includes one team entry.

Naz athletic physicals scheduled

Nazareth ISD announced that the Tulia Clinic will be available on July 20 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for walk-in physicals for Nazareth athletes.

Red Raiders at 4th in Big 12 picks

The preseason media poll for the Big 12 is out and the Texas Tech Red Raiders were picked to finish in fourth place this season in the new-look 14team league. The Raiders received four first-place votes. The preseason nod is the highest since the Big 12 moved to a division-less format in 2011.

Xcel grants $50k to assist Perryton
