Senate approves replacing STAAR

The Texas Senate voted to replace the STAAR exam in public schools with plans to replace the test with three shorter exams.The provision was part of HB 8, a larger school accountability bill by House Public Education Chair Rep. Brad Buckley and sponsored in the Senate by Sen. Paul Bettencourt.

Road construction continues in Castro County

TxDOT road construction on US 385 is ongoing in several Texas locations, including those in Hockley, Lamb and Castro counties.There is a $17.5 millionproject in the Levelland area that will make repairs to the existing roadways, widen the road at various locations, and place a new road surface.
