Gas prices continue to rise across state

GasBuddy has reported that over the last week, Amarillo gas prices have risen 11 cents and brought the average price to $2.64/gallon as of June 7. The higher gas prices in Dimmitt are averaging $2.89/regular; $3.28/Midgrade; $3.54/Premium; and $2.99/diesel.

It is full steam ahead here at Rhoads Memorial Library as our Summer Reading Program progresses. Books are flying off the shelves (figuratively) as children are tasked with reading them (or being read to) in a quest for prizes.

A Shocking Conversation

“Do you need a push?” I asked the elderly gentleman with a grey scruffy beard. With his weathered face, he looked at me sideways as he struggled to propel his wheelchair down a hall. Both of his legs were amputated. “Sure,” he said. I pushed him to the main entrance of the nursing facility.

Slow Down

Warning signs serve as warnings. That might seem logical; it is. When we see a road sign alerting us to the danger of a dangerous curve we slow down. Warning signs should not be ignored; ‘SLOW CHILDREN AT PLAY.’ Seeing the sign, drivers reduce their speed and watch for children.
