Silva awarded Thoma Scholars scholarship

Daniel Duenes Silva, a senior at Dimmitt High School, has been selected as a recipient of the four-year Thoma Scholars Program scholarship. This award will support Daniel’s pursuit of higher education at Texas Tech University beginning in the fall of 2025.
Nazareth FFA Gracie White won big at the Houston Livestock Show, competing in the Veterinary Science Contest. She earned the championship for individual high point. White has been a strong competitor in the event for the last two years. The Nazareth Veterinary Science team placed fifth overall at Houston, with other team members Michael Fulkerson and Beck Paulsen.

Last Friday’s strong winds and dust storm pounded the Texas Panhandle with electrical and internet outages, property damage, road closures and 42 vehicle crashes, three which were fatal.The National Weather Service reported that Dimmitt had gusts up to 84 mph.
