All four team members of the West Texas A&M University Forensics Team have individually qualified for the American Forensic Association National Speech Tournament in April. Two students— Alejandro Mata and Isaac Doty—qualified after earning points at several tournaments between September and March.

The Dimmitt Bobcats lost the Regionals quarterfinal round to the Shallowater Mustangs, 50-41, ending their playoff run. Shallowater gained a first quarter lead, 16-9, and in the second quarter, the Bobcats battled, but ended the first half trailing the Mustangs 25-22.

The Dimmitt Bobbies came up with win against the Crosbyton Chiefettes, 12-6. Coach Vicki Ruiz said the Bobbies had a strong start in the four innings, leading 6-0. The Chiefettes scored six runs in the fifth inning to tie the score up.
DHS Bobbies softball played well at the Hale Center Tourney, with two strong wins in three games. Players of the Game were Nina Vasquez (first game), Alina Mora (second game) and Julia LaRue (third game).

The Dimmitt Bobbies competed in the Hale Center softball tournament on Feb. 23-25, winning two games out of three against Hale Center, Clarendon and Floydada JV.

The Dimmitt Bobcats baseball team competed at the Floydada Baseball Tourney on March 2-4, winning all three games against Seagraves, Hale Center and Muleshoe, and tournament championship. The Bobcats defeated Seagraves in the first game, 10-9.

The Dimmitt Bobbies softball team scored a win against the Lubbock Christian Lady Eagles last Tuesday, 14-10.
Nazareth Swiftettes brought home another state basketball championship trophy, the 25th in the team’s history, after 31 appearances at state since 1976, with nine of those in the last 10 years.

Swiftettes win state title

The Nazareth Swiftettes won the State 1A Basketball Championships this past weekend, beating a tough Huckabay team, 30-20 in the final round. The Swiftettes added a 25th title and finished their season with a 30-9 record.

The Dimmitt Bobcats beat the Abernathy Antelopes in the Area Championship game, 47-41, and will travel to Frenship to compete in the Regional quarterfinals against Shallowater.
