Letter to the Editor The past year has been one of growth and collaboration for the Tulia Chamber of Commerce. Through programs, promotions, and events, we worked to strengthen our local economy while celebrating the people and businesses that make Tulia special.

As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, higher education stands at a crossroads. Our colleges and universities face a convergence of challenges, public expectations, financial uncertainty, political and public scrutiny and rapid technological change.

THE BIBLE SAYS

Apostle Peter said, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3). Peter states that it is the “new birth” that provides our living hope.

This week I went to Dallas to see Ava in an abbreviated version of the Nutcracker. Her studio did outdoor performances for the public on two weekends. Their main theatre production will be in a week. The performance was really good.

We are currently going into our third week of a government shutdown and we have been subjected to news conferences on both sides of the aisle pointing fingers as to who is to blame. I am old enough to remember when the nightly news reported information that was to inform the nation.

The past couple weeks I’ve been busy ones for me. I was in Dallas for a while. While there, Jonna, Lillian and I attended a Cain concert. It was very good. The opening entertainers were also great. Two of Lillian’s friends went with us also. All of the girls had a great time.

I am constantly amazed at how far behind modern technology has left me. I had an experience a few days ago that has left me still scratching my head.My automobile insurance policy includes a roadside assistance feature. Several days ago I had a tire failure on a local highway.
