Amarillo ISD’s school board discussed Monday at a meeting how House Bill 3 and House Bill 114 would be implemented across the district. House Bill 3 requires that each school district has an armed security officer present at each campus.

Abbott issues disaster declaration due to wildfires

Governor Greg Abbott announced that he has issued a disaster declaration for 191 Texas counties in response to widespread wildfire activity throughout the state. Additional counties may be added as conditions warrant.

DPS urges caution as school year begins

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reminds drivers to use extra caution in-and-around school zones and neighborhoods as the new school year begins. They point to knowing state laws about driving near stopped school buses and not using cell phones when behind the wheel.
