The Dimmitt ISD Board of Trustees met on Aug. 14 and voted to increase the property tax rate following a public hearing. The property tax rate increase of $1.0915 would be comprised of an M&O (Maintenance and Operations) tax rate of $0.7565 and an I&S (Interest and Sinking) tax rate of $0.

Former pro-football player Zach Thomas from Pampa was officially inducted in the Pro-Football Hall of Fame. Thomas played for Texas Tech and was drafted by the Miami Dolphins originally to play special teams but made his way into the linebacker position and played for that team from 1996 to 2007.
