DHS XC workouts begin

Dimmitt High School and Middle School cross country runners began workouts on July 10. All students wishing to compete are welcome join and should come to the high school by the girl’s athletic weight room at 7:30 am. Bring water and shoes and be prepared to hit the pavement.

Swift football prepares for summer camp

The Nazareth Swifts football camp will be held July 24 to July 26. The camps is for incoming kindergarten through freshman with two different sessions per day per day, with one for K-3rd at 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and another for 4th – 9th from 11 a.m. to noon.

Undocumented students allowed to pay in-state tuition

A ruling by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will allow the University of North Texas to charge out-of-state American citizens higher tuition than undocumented students who live in Texas, reversing a federal district court ruling that had blocked the practice.

Red Raiders at 4th in Big 12 picks

The preseason media poll for the Big 12 is out and the Texas Tech Red Raiders were picked to finish in fourth place this season in the new-look 14team league. The Raiders received four first-place votes. The preseason nod is the highest since the Big 12 moved to a division-less format in 2011.

Xcel grants $50k to assist Perryton

Xcel Energy has granted $25,000 each to the United Way of Amarillo and Canyon and the Amarillo Area Foundation to help Panhandle residents impacted by severe weather. This season’s severe weather has proven to be catastrophic for many of the residents in Perryton, Amarillo and Hereford.
