Governor Greg Abbott last Wednesday appointed John Scott as the short-term attorney general of Texas, under Article 15, Section 5 of the Texas Constitution. The appointment comes following the impeachment of Ken Paxton by the Texas House of Representatives over allegations of misconduct and crimes.
