Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced is sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for October, 4.5% more than the October 2022 period. Castro County will receive $23,900 for October, a decrease of -1.

DISD program to honor veterans

Dimmitt ISD Student Council and Gifted and Talented will be hosting the annual Veterans Day program on Nov. 9. The program will be held at the Dimmitt Middle School Auditorium and will begin at 5:30 p.m. DHS HOSA aides will be available to assist veterans with wheelchairs and walkers.
The Nazareth Cross Country team, coached by Whitney Bryan, is headed to UIL State XC meet in Round Rock. The girls’ team qualified at Regionals earning third place; Bryson Brockman earned his ticket to state as an individual runner in 14th place. Members of the girls team are Madison Brockman, Chloe Birkenfeld, Kelsie Gunter, Lexi Ramaekers, Mallory Wilhelm, Bridget Osterkamp and Kambri Cleavinger
