Legislation has been filed in the Texas House and Senate to stop local governments from using taxpayer money to fund lobbyists.
State Sen. Bob Hall, R– Edgewood, filed SB 234, and Rep. Mayes Middleton, R– Wallisville filed a companion bill, HB 749.

Hundreds of pets died in Texas during the recent storm due to owner neglect and abuse. Animals were left outside to die. Dogs were found frozen solid in inadequate dog houses in sub-zero temperatures. Safe Outdoor Dogs Legislation is being heard by the House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee to establish basic standards of care to protect animals against extreme outdoor temperatures and other safety factors.
