Finding Great Joy

I have been writing this column since 2006 and there is a topic I have never written on – transgenderism. A recent story about retired basketball player Dwayne Wade and his wife Gabrielle, helped push me to write. One of their four children is 12 years old.

Every native Texan knows how unique the state, though out of state residents consider some the state’s colloquialism and habits a bit odd. But like it or not, Texans love the Lone Star State and see nothing peculiar at all. Being Texan is great, just ask any Texan.

Pet Talk

Most pet owners are clear about the immediate joys that come with sharing their lives with companion animals. However, many of us remain unaware of the physical and mental health benefits that can also accompany the pleasure of snuggling up to a furry friend.

Library Lines ...

Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone and we are fully staffed, (and fully stuffed?) we are busily decorating here at Rhoads Memorial Library for Christmas.

The Best Part

As many of you know, we have four kids. I am not saying all the days were roses and sunshine, but we have finally hit a place where we all love and respect each other. We are as healthy as many families want to be and some are hoping to be someday.

Me or We

May God be merciful and bless us. May his face shine with favor upon us. Interlude Psalms 67:1 (NLT) We often pray for God to bless me and give me his favor. This is so close to how we should pray, yet it misses the mark by miles. Often, there is too much of me and not enough of we in my prayers.

Unity in Community

In today’s culture, peace can be elusive. We are in constant communication with others by phone, text message, or social media. The unceasing claim upon our time by needy individuals can be exhausting. Not to mention the endless stream of bad news from around the world.

Editor’s Message

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.” Psalm 28:7 Thanksgiving can change with us. It can endure wherever we are and whatever stage of life we are in.

Dear Editor, In the Castro County News edition of Nov. 12, there was a headline naming Biden president-elect. The proclamation somewhat confused me.
