Texas Senate approves business tax cuts

Businesses look to save nearly three-quarters of a billion dollars under a plan, SB2, passed last Wednesday by the Texas Senate that would allow them to write off 20 percent of the property taxes they pay on inventories.

A Castro County student, Audrey Wooten, was honored by the Oklahoma State University Ferguson College of Agriculture with academic scholarship support for the 2025-2026 academic year.Wooten, an agribusiness major, was awarded the Joseph Fleming Memorial Continuing Scholarship.

The Castro County Intermediate Horse Judging team competed at the District 2 contest with Team 1 placing 3rd and Team 2 placing 4th. Team 1 members include Steeley Moore (4th), Trystan Crow, Braeli Fuller and Sawyer Lunsford. Team 2 members are Edgar Perez, Gracie McLean and Adalyn Braddock. Coaches for the teams are Jessica Moore and Mary Crow.
