Defense Secretary Lloyd Austion placed about 2,000 military personnel and a range of units on high alert as the Israel-Hamas war continues to heat up. U.S. naval vessels and aircraft have been deployed or are already on site at bases and in Israeli waters.
At least 2,000 American troops have been put on heightened alert to deploy in response to the conflict in Israel, according to a Pentagon statement released on Tuesday.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin “placed approximately 2,000 personnel and a range of units on a heightened state of readiness through a prepare-to-deploy order,” said Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh.
