Swiftettes compete at Whatburger tourney

The Nazareth Swiftettes competed in the 65th Whataburger Basketball Tournament in the Blue division this past week in the Ft. Worth area. The tourney is the premier Texas high school holiday tournament and one of the nation’s top five high school holiday basketball tournaments.

Swifts defeat Rebels, 54-44

The Swifts hit 11 of 25 field goals, with six of 14 3-pointers, 14 of 18 free throws, had two assists, collected nine offensive rebounds and 25 defensive rebounds, and had one block, three steals and six fouls.

Swifts fall to Leopards, 56-44

The Swifts hit 16 of 43 field goals with five of 16 3-pointers, seven of 11 free throws, had two assists, nine offensive rebounds, 12 defensive rebounds, two blocks, one steal and 11 fouls.

Airline delays challenge teams in Lubbock tourney

The Caprock Classic Basketball Tournament is set to kick off on Dec. 28 in Lubbock, with games held at various schools in the area. But for some players from “out of town” or more aptly put, “from down under,” they have faced challenges getting to Lubbock to play in the big tourney.

West Texas A&M Director of Athletics Michael Mc-Broom announced that Josh Lynn has been hired as the 29th head coach in Buffalo Football history. Lynn was introduced at a press conference this past Friday at the Fairly Group Club at Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium.
