(Above) DHS senior Kaylee Lujan earned a ticket to the Regional track meet after placing third in the 200-meter dash. In addition to being a qualifier, Lujan also broke the DHS 200- meter school record at Area with a time of 26.25. The previous record was set in 1985 by S. Killingsworth with a time of 26.98. Lujan will be heading to the US Air Force upon graduation.

Naz Knights of Columbus to host golf scramble

The Nazareth Knights of Columbus will be holding a four-man golf scramble fundraiser on Saturday, May 14. The event will be held at the John Pittman Golf Course in Hereford and begins at 8:30 a.m.

Ladyhorns relay team, Paizlie Reyna Mata, Mia Minjarez, Elycia Gonzalez, Toree Jo Evans, won the 4x100 meter relay and 4x200 meter at the Area contest and will advance to Regionals. The 4x200 team also set a Hart High School record, running 1:49.8.

Nazareth mixed and men’s doubles players competed at the Texas UIL State Tennis Championship on April 26. The Naz men’s double team of Trent Gerber and Luke Schulte played Hunter Gutierrez and Zach Ward from Priddy in the quarterfinals, coming out on top 6-4, 7-5 and advancing.

The Nazareth track and field athletes competed at the District 3-1A track meet last Wednesday and came through with strong performances, with the top four finishers advancing to compete at Area on April 20 in Vega.

The Hart Ladyhorns and Longhorns competed at Kress in the District 4-1A track meet this past week. The Ladyhorns won the district title.
