DHS OAP advances to Area

The Dimmitt High School One Act Play (OAP) cast, directors and stage/tech crew won another “Advancing Play” in the UIL bi-district competition with their performance of “Her Senior Year” in El Paso and set to compete at Area on Wednesday in Seminole. The play was written by Codee Moore.

Hart Robotics Updates

Hart High School robotics students will be attending the State UIL Robotics competition on April 8 in Houston, Texas.

Castro 4H Updates

(Photo left) Castro County 4-H’ers were busy this past week. Seven junior members on the horse judging team competed and placed fourth and seventh at the Traveling Horse Judging hosted by WTAMU.

HPWD shows county water level drop

High Plains Water District field staff recently completed the 2022 water level measurements in HPWD Underground Water Conservation District No. 1, which includes Castro County. The average change observed in the Ogallala/Edwards-Trinity (High Plains) Aquifers is -0.63 feet from 2021 to 2022.

National unemployment edges down by 0.2%

Unemployment rates were lower in February in 31 states and the District of Columbia and stable in 19 states, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. All 50 states and the District had jobless rate decreases from a year earlier. The national unemployment rate, 3.8 percent, edged down by 0.
