Deadly Standoff

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a call for assistance by Levelland PO after a suspect barracaded himself in a residence after firing on officers. LCSO SWAT Commander Sgt. Josh Bartlett was shot and killed during the standoff. Omar Soto-Chavira, 22 Charged with capital murder.

State eviction diversion program extended

A state eviction diversion program launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been extended, according to a new emergency order from the Texas Supreme Court. The diversion program was set to expire on July 27. The new order extends it until Oct. 1. Gov.

Suspect arrested following deadly standoff

Omar Soto-Chavira, 22, was arrested in Levelland, Texas following an 11-hour standoff with law enforcement and the shooting death of one Lubbock County Sheriff’s officer and wounding of four other law enforcement officers. The confrontation began a little after 1 p.m.
