Abbott directs PUC to take action to improve electric reliability

Governor Greg Abbott last week sent a letter to members of the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) directing them to take immediate action to improve electric reliability across the state.

4-H Pollinator Habitat Ambassador training set

Castro County 4-H member have a leadership opportunity coming up with the Pollinator Habitat Teen Ambassador Program on Aug. 7 in Plainview. District 2 4-H received a $12,500 grant to have the program. Only high school students in the 2021-2022 school year are eligible and must apply by July 20.

Bobcats acquire new head coach

The Dimmitt High School Bobcats football program will have a new leader with the arrival of Head Coach Johnny Nino. Coach Nino will be replacing Jason Burklow, who had the opportunity to continue his coaching career in his hometown of Pampa.

This week marks the sixth week of Summer Reading Club with three weeks remaining (not that we're counting!). Youngsters continuing to read in the program are now able to enter a drawing for grand prizes that will be awarded July 31 here at Rhoads Memorial Library.
