Nazareth FFA members attended the Texas Tech University Invitational vet science and livestock contest this past weekend. Students were back to doing a live contest evaluating livestock and ID breeds, organs, parasites and tools in the vet science contests.

A fire on U.S. Hwy 60 which was called in last Friday at 1:33 p.m. blazed up and burned a lengthy swath of land along the highway. According to Sheriff Sal Rivera, the cause of the fire is unknown but could be due to sparks from a truck’s brakes or a cigarette thrown out of a car window.

Quilt festival features classes, competition

The Ogallala Quilt Festival is set for April 9-10 with lots of classes, lectures and other events to enjoy. Exhibitors and quilters are looking forward to a great festival after last year’s was canceled due to the pandemic and the “Color Remix” theme promises to be the best ever.

The Commissioners Court approved a proclamation designating April as Castro County Child Abuse and Awareness Month. Castro County joined other counties in Texas as it does each year in promoting awareness for a continuing problem and assistance for victim of child abuse.
